 Life Span less than six months August 27, 2010

I purchased a set of the Silver Star Ultra headlights for my 2002 Ford Focus SE. I thought for the extra money I was spending that they would last for sometime. Well both of the bulbs burnt-out within six months. Contacted Sylvania and they were very thoughtful and sent me a new set. Well the new set did not last any longer. I would not recommend these bulbs for anyone.

These are nice headlamps that I replaced on a '97 Toyota Camry. The lights are very nice and bright, much better than OEM, but these do burn out much quicker. So far, I've been replacing once a year, which I'm fine with. However, people that don't like getting under their hood probably would try for OEM or another longer lasting type bulb.

Purchased these lights at a great price. I've used these lights before with great results. The only downside to me is it seems that these lights have a shorter life span than you would like.
Silver Star Ultras August 11, 2010

Sylvania makes the Silver Star which I used to use until the Ultras were introduced. The Ultra has a more defined beam than the regular Silver Star and reaches a little farther down the road. This longer reach, especially on high beam, is very important when driving two lane highways at night. Seeing the glowing eyeballs of deer on the road or close to it long before they cross your path is a real plus with the Ultras. Sylvania claims short lifespan on these, 150 hours, but I got 4 years and about 50,000 miles out of my first set. My vehicle has daytime running lights which illuminate the high beam at 80% but this didn't seem to shorten the life of the lamps at all. Worth every penny.

These were not as bright or white as previous reviewers or product description would have lead me to believe, at least in my opinion. Sylvania's higher end bulbs do not last very long in my Hondas either. I was very happy with my old PAII bulbs as they had a very white light, close to HID. These look yellow in comparison, but they are somewhat bright and a little more white than stock. For the list price, these are a rip, but at this discount, OK deal, but not great. There are many other high quality bulbs that are as bright yet much more white. OK, but I wouldn't buy again.
