Roadchums is a website run by Chris Kennedy & Barry Lewis.
The inspiration for Roadchums first came when Barry was stuck in traffic on the way to work in America. Looking at other cars waiting they were mostly made up of one driver and no passengers. We had both heard of car sharing before from a variety of schemes being run, but it wasn’t until that moment that the potential benefits stood out.
Originally the site was developed for a college project, and that was really where things started to grow. As part of the testing stage it was placed online, and received some excellent feedback. The site at the time was very vast, with a number of varied sections for car sharers – airports, venues etc to name a few. However in reality, this prevented the site from appealing to a particular individual
Upon completion of the course (and a considerable amount of media attention), the decision was made to purely focus the site on sports fans heading to matches, or their particular destination. This was supported by a number of the original members to sign up and attracted great interest.
We have designed the site build an online community of people that feel the same way we do – wanting to help save the environment, plus make new friends whilst doing it. Chums are encouraged to be sociable here too, and use the provided boards to make new friends and discuss general goings on.
Our registration process has been made as simple as possible, and once signed up you will have access to the members area. Here you can send private messages, post and read in any forum, and also submit a request for a new message board of your topic choice. We are welcome to any improvements or suggestions that you may have for the site, no matter how random! So sign up, make chums and spread the word!
Welcome to the community
